Held off-site at a warehouse in Sydney’s city-fringe Waterloo, Ellery’s ‘Je Suis a vous’ collection was the perfect antidote to some of RAFW’s more polished collections and just what the cool kids ordered.
Held on Tuesday April 29, the show started with the deafening sounds of rock band Hot Little Hands as MTV’s Ruby Rose sat front row perusing a collection that seems almost made for her.
The models, who strutted with more attitude than all of the a-listers in the room combined, showcased Kim Ellery’s rock referenced collection that was heavy on tailoring, skin and edgy undone finishes.
The show channelled a derailed Miss Teen USA via the 80’s and the hair looks reflected this perfectly. Created by Michael Brennan for De Lorenzo, the hair was 80s inspired but with a modern interpretation – it was long, clean and natural with an 80’s twist.
One side was twisted into a textured roll and pinned behind the head low to the nape of the neck with the remainder loosely tonged, for texture and shape, and cascading freely The crown was flat with a little bit of volume added at the front.
The look was achieved with De Lorenzo Vice and Allevi8 Shine Serum and finished with De Lorenzo Granite Lacquer Spray.
