2009 HBIA Australian Hairdressing Championships

Sponsored by BIBA Academy and held at the Melbourne Convention Centre on June 21, 2009, the HBIA Australian Hairdressing Championships saw more than 600 competitors vying for a host of admired titles.



Industry professionals and apprentice hairdressers demonstrated their talents across 16 individual competitions that tested everything from cuts, blow-waves, rock star looks, bridal creations and everything in between.



2009 saw the addition of the inaugural Session Artist Award that boasted a highly covetable prize – a return trip to Thailand courtesy of Kevin Murphy was up for grabs. Entrants created a designer collection and were judged on the runway with only one minute to catch the eye of the judges. Timothy Pittard of Colour Collections walked away victorious after this inaugural award.
