[Thu 29/04/2010 01:07:25]
Australian-owned Big Towel Company has announced its support for the hair and beauty industry by joining WordSkills Australia as a proud sponsor for the WordSkills Australia National Competition, the largest bi-annual vocational skills competition in the world to be held in Brisbane in May.
Sharon Blain, international educator and company director announced the collaboration with WorldSkills Australia, saying how proud she was being able to support such and important event in the hair and beauty calendar. "The Big Towel Company acknowledges that the apprentices of today are salon owners of the future,” she said.
WorldSkills is a not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting youth in trade since 1981. Over 500 competitors from around the country will compete in up to 50 trade and skill categories.
Competitors will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals on a national level. They may have the opportunity to travel and gain an international pathway though WorldSkills International.
A crowd of 70,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, which will coincide with the 2010 National Careers and Employment Expo.
Big Towel Company will be supporting the hair and beauty category with its range of eco-friendly hand and spa towels.
WordSkills Australia is thrilled to have the Big Towel Company sponsorship as it is conscious of the need to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
Supplying environmentally sound products for the WordSkills Australia National Competition is another step forward for eco-consciousness; not only for the contest, but for the industry at large.
