RAFW: KMS California for Bec&Bridge

On Monday May 3, 2010 Australian designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston of Bec&Bridge presented their ‘Smoke without Fire’ Collection in conjunction with KMS California.

“We couldnt be happier with the team we have working on the show this year – the brilliant partnership of Wayne Chappell, the team from RAW Antony Nader and KMS will see our designs brought to life,” said the Bec&Bridge designers.



Which is exactly what they did. Wayne Chappell directed the hair for KMS California which saw him take the ‘smoke’ element from the collection, and create an artfully dishevelled, salty textured ponytail which had baby powder shaken through it to create a smoky trail effect as the models took to the smoke-filled runway.

With tribal undertones in the form of chunky accessories, models showcased the collection which included metallic gold singlets, floaty maxidresses and micro minis – many pieces featuring a gathering effect that brought the collection together.

Get the look:

1. Prep hair with KMS HairStay Style Boost, working from roots to mid lengths.

2. Set product with heat from a hairdryer with minimal brushing, loosely finger drying.

3. Apply KMS HairPlay Sea Salt Spray to mid-lengths and ends, and blast with heat.

4. Once hair is dry, spritz some more KMS HairPlay Sea Salt Spray over the hair again while plying the hair with fingers to create a soft finger wave to reinforce texture.

5. Part the hair from ear to ear and secure in a centre ponytail.

6. Back comb the front and top of the hair, roots to mid lengths to create texture while liberally applying KMS HairPlay Make Over Spray throughout.

7. Pull the front hair back to meet the ponytail and secure to create one ponytail, lightly finger tease the ponytail to give an ‘undone’ look.

8. Finger comb the front of the hair and lightly brush back.

9. Spray generously with KMS HairPlay Make Over Spray to finish the hair and create a white smokey look.
