RAFW: L'Oreal Professionnel for Dhini
[Mon 10/05/2010 02:06:11]
L’Oréal Professionnel Hair Director Brad Ngata oversaw the hair direction for the Dhini catwalk show, creating voluminous styles that ensured “the bouffant is back!”

Of creating the look for Dhini’s SS10/11 collection Brad said, “Dhini’s collection this season is all about flowing dresses and shirts with a very airy and light feel inspired by an Indian Empress, so the idea was to create a crown of hair that was almost halo-like. We wanted the overall shape to have a 3D effect, a nod to what this season is all about – texture and volume.”

“I wanted to contrast the softness of this ‘inflated’ and very beautiful shape with intricate braiding. The look is worldly and unique, a beautiful statement for Dhini. There’s something really unique about braiding too. It shows off texture and dimension in the hair and can give a look a particular edge. We worked in tiny braids for detail at the base of this statement, billowing shape,” he added.

Get the look:
1. For serious height and maximum body and texture, layer in or double-mousse towel dried hair using L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Full Volume Extra. Spray in L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Volume Lift through the roots and then blow dry in.
2. Section a lower section from ear to ear at the base of the head and braid. Fold and wrap the braid at the back, sewing it in place with linen tread.
3. To the top section and remaining hair, back-comb vigorously with a bristle brush or French-teasing brush.
4. “We added padding to bulk out this look and brushed and molded the hair atop the head with extreme height and fullness,” said Brad.
5. Spray liberally with L’Oréal Professionnel Elnett Satin Strong Hold Hairspray to hold and style the shape into place.
