RAFW: Redken 5th Avenue NYC and Cloud Nine for Ksubi

As Ksubi made a fashion week comeback, hair was refreshingly super slick and polished with edge added courtesy of a cooler than cool Ksubi cap on selected models. Cloud Nine ambassador. John Pulitano directed the hair in collaboration with Redken 5th Avenue NYC.

While the only rats this year appeared in subtle prints sporadically through their ‘One via Zero’ collection and not running wild on the catwalk, Ksubi re-established its cutting-edge credentials in denim and street-style by streaming their show live to a global audience of millions.

In collaboration with well regarded stylist, Brana Wolf, listed by Forbes as one of the eight most powerful stylists in the world, models entered the runway via an underground tunnel, emerging and walking in circle as opposed to the traditionally straight line.

Created by co-founders George Gorrow and Dan Single the One via Zero collection transformed the work-wear fabric with pieces including fragile torn denims that looked more like feathers, bold graffiti-style prints applied to jeans and jackets and rat printed sweater dresses - touches of retro paisley also appeared.

“During the week, we have seen a lot of natural textured hair with lots of waves and movement so for the Ksubi show, we wanted to go for something completely different – a modern straight and sleek style,” said Jon. “The look for the show was 60s inspired, but it also had a bit of a 70s feel. We added extensions to the models hair, which were trimmed so hair was all one length.”

By taking small sections and using the Cloud Nine iron on a high heat setting, hair was styled super straight to give a natural, shiny finish. To complete the look and add further shine to the hair Redken 5th Avenue NYC Final Glam was the product of choice.
