Carolyn Fox: Raising eyebrows on A Current Affair

Carolyn Fox has owned award winning salons and day spas for more than 13 years. In 2005 she expanded her Broadbeach salon, Fox Salon & Brows in Queensland to accommodate an eyebrow business. Last night, Carolyn appeared on popular Channel Nine news programme A Current Affair to talk about brows - particularly, the techniques of Eyebrow shaper to the stars, Anastasia Soare, whose concept and associated products she is franchising.

Carolyn initially met Anastasia at the Academy Awards before studying with her in 2004.

“We looked after Catherine Zeta Jones’ hair while she was in Australia and I became good friends with her publicist who was a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures – I was taken as his guest and the rest is history,” she said.

Anastasia’s client list is a veritable who’s who of Hollywood – she can name Madonna, Charlize Theron, Kim Catrall, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Lopez among her clientele. She has also appeared frequently on Oprah and ‘Extreme Makeover’ providing a real point of difference to other eyebrow shaping competitors on the market.

Carolyn firmly believes the Anastasia technique can be beneficial to any beauty business and finally after many years of planning, has received the go ahead for both the franchise concept and the products to be available to salons across Australia.

“In today’s salon business, it is getting harder to set yourself apart from your competitors and Anastasia brows are a fabulous new technique which will immediately generate salon revenue and profit and will increase client numbers and salon services without extra employees,” said Carolyn.

The requirements to complete the system in your salon is to have a minimum of two brow stations, especially considering a lot of regular colour clients will opt to have their brows shaped in between services.

The best-selling products from Anastasia’s extensive range of retail products is the 5 piece brow kit – retailing at $99, it includes Anastasia stencils, brow gel, tweezers, brow powder and an eyebrow applicator brush.

Carolyn had a stand for the first time at Hair Expo 2010 and had an overwhelming response with more than 200 expressions of interest in setting up a store-within-their-store to boost business opportunities. However, only a select number will be licensed to use the Anastasia technique and products, while an extensive three day training course will put staff in good stead to start recouping their investment in the first month.
