On Wednesday June 16, an intimate group of hairdressers from around Australia were given the opportunity of a lifetime when they sat down to a masterclass with two of the UK Sassoon Academy's top stylists: Edward Darley – UK Creative Colour Director and Jeremy Davies – Creative Director of Sloane Street Vidal Sassoon.

Held at the Wella Professionals studio in Sydney's Surry Hills,  the workshop gave hairdressers the chance to get up close and personal, ask questions and interact with Jeremy and Edward, a chance not otherwise afforded those in a crowded stage show environment.

“It was a magical day,” said event organiser and Creative Director of e SALON, Emiliano Vitale. “The best part about this kind of setting is that it is an unbelievable opportunity for Jeremy and Edward to share their knowledge, and for our hairdressers to glean as much information and creative inspiration from them as possible!”

Throughout the seminar, Edward presented and worked on three colours while Jeremy presented and worked on three complete haircuts.

“It was very inspiring and made me realize that as a business owner, it is imperative to educate oneself on the creative plane not just on the business. The day opened my eyes again and made me look at a hair cut like an architect would look at a building, a designer would look at a piece of material and envision a design," said participant Michael Belcastro from Belcastro Hair.

"It has brought more passion into my work and the techniques of the cuts and colours have been implemented in my work on clients I would not have thought would be open to such change.”

The day was even more special for three lucky apprentices, Tonya Ludwick, Rebecca Sun and Mason Fahim who were able to assist Jeremy and Edward at the event.

“Watching Tonya, Mason and Beck’s eyes light up as they watched Edward and Jeremy work and helped them prepare, was amazing,” said Emiliano. “Again, both Edward and Jeremy were so generous with their knowledge, especially extending it towards their assistants.”
