The picturesque backdrop of Sydney harbour was the perfect venue for the announcement of the Australian / New Zealand winners of Goldwell Color Zoom, held on Sunday July 18 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at the Rocks, in Sydney.

Guests perused the finalists’ images, sipped champagne and ate delicious canapés as they anticipated the announcement of the winners, hosted by Charlotte Dawson.

As if winning the Goldwell Color Zoom accolade wasn't exciting enough, winners are given the chance to globetrot all the way to beautiful Paris, where they will be competing in the Goldwell Color Zoom Global Finals in October.

Following the excitement of the winner announcements, guests were enthralled by a dance performance by five-strong dance troupe from entertainment crew The Next Step – who fused tap dancing with hip hop and showcased some very impressive break-dancing moves.

This year's Color Zoom Challenge Final coincides with the Paris Fashion Week, combining two of the absolute highlights in this year's international fashion calendar. Over 2000 hairdressing professionals have already registered to attend this unique final of the international Goldwell Color Zoom Challenge.

The focus of this unique contest, sponsored by Goldwell, is still a reliable feel for trends and creative coloration expertise. It's a challenge for all trend-oriented colorists and it offers them the opportunity to be part of the international creative team working on the next Color Zoom publication. Goldwell hairdressers from around the world get the opportunity to represent their country as beauty and creative visionaries.

Potential winners can immerse themselves in the world of international hair fashion, test their skills against top stylists from all five continents and join forces with them to shape future trends.

Last year's winners, Mark Nordskov from Denmark, Tyker Ho from Taiwan and Timothy Switzer from Canada have already experienced this one-of-a-kind opportunity. They are collaborating on the development of the Goldwell Color Zoom Collection '11.

"It's a fantastic experience to work with leading international stylists. And I'm a living proof that you can go right to the top at Goldwell on the basis of your creativity alone," said Mark Nordskov.

There will be national and international winners in the following three categories:

Creative Colorist, for color creations with Topchic, Colorance and Elumen – for experienced colorists.

Young Talent, for young, creative colorists with less than five years of professional experience.

Partner Colorist, for color creations by hairdressers who already do shows or training for Goldwell.
