[Tue 10/08/2010 02:54:08]
With more than 70 models to perfect, Hair Director Brad Ngata and his team was on a mission to create ‘Back from the Beach’ inspired hair with a glamorous twist via a wet-look and gold foil on selected models.

“The hair for the Myer Spring/Summer collection is inspired by a beach in Monaco or from lounging on a fabulous yacht in the Mediterranean,” said Brad. “Back from the Beach Hair is so much more beautiful than the typical Beach Hair,” he said.

The backstage session team needed to add plenty of glamour and shine to the hair, with the volume and effortless wave of the typical ‘summer beauty’. Working alongside Brad was Troy Thompson, Mark Thibault (Brad Ngata Hair Direction), Marie Cain (Head Studio), Julz Mayberry (Heading Out Hair and Beauty), Claudia Cataldo (Cataldo’s) and Kate Jones (Suki).

Myer divided the upbeat and holiday-inspired show into three trend-inspired segments; Cosmetic Bloom, New Nautical and Modern Military. Cosmetic bloom flirted with feminine shapes and colours that painted a pretty picture for spring, while New Nautical saluted the season’s new uniform of red, white and blue. Modern Military took to the desert with heavy military detailing and safari styling.

Cosmetic Bloom was defined by designers such as Aurelio Costarella, Manning Cartell and Jayson Brunsdon while New Nautical was given a sporty edge with Tommy Hilfiger, Leona Edmiston, Wayne Junior Boy and Girl as well as Bauhaus. TL Wood and Yeojin Bay and Kate Silvester rocked Modern Military.
For the ponytail a ‘resort chic’ theme prevailed with high-shine –it had a gloss finish. “This is a look that girls can sweep back straight from the beach. Spritz in some Solar Sublime after sun spray and whip on your floaty printed dress or kaftan.

The avant-garde gold foil look was both dramatic and beautiful. “We wanted this look to capture the essence of the summer collection and be something memorable that became the highlight of the show. The girls were like golden goddesses from the ocean and to achieve the look I applied layers of gold foil into the hair that complemented the fabulous make up from the show,” said Brad.

A host of L’Oreal Professionnel Texture Expert Products were on hand including Sparkling Mist, Fixing Mist, Expert Expansion as well as L’Oreal Professionnel Solar Sublime.
Models were accessorised by Jewellery from Mezi Barcs, Wayne by Wayne Cooper, David Lawrence, Kitte and Fundamental and the show was style by industry stalwart Thelma McQuillan.
