After 16 years at the forefront of hair transformation, Wild Life decided it was time to transform their space and move to an iconic building by the harbour’s edge at Milsons Point.

Set on the ground floor of a sloping street with a sweeping panorama of some of the best views Sydney has to offer, Wild Life takes residence underneath The Point Apartments - an award winning development designed by architect Andrew Cortese of Bligh Voller Nield.

Overlooking the harbour and across to the CBD, the salon also takes in the view of the North Sydney Pool, across Luna Park and past the city to the North. It’s breathtaking.

Designed by Michelle Latham, the 300 square metre space incorporates a cafe-like atmosphere complete with a birko in winter with the latest organic soups from Sugarcane in Surry Hills, a commercial ice-machine and a fully functioning refreshment menu.

The rest of the salon is kitted out with what you’d expect from leading suppliers with the subdued basin area featuring Joiken basins, and a commercial kitchen-inspired colour area.

The space is also shared with a beauty business, offering a complete range of facial treatments and aesthetic procedures. Lunch, coffee, hairstyling, beauty and a gorgeous view can all be enjoyed in the one convenient location.

Every step of the Wild Life experience is underscored by million dollar views and the uplifting natural light that enters the salon from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

“It’s not about stark or chandeliers, it’s about being a really comfortable place we want to share and we didn’t want it to be pretentious – it has to be functional,” said owner Gary Latham.

More than 20 staff ensure the space is buzzing and the attention remains on the customer.  Customers are even able to purchase similar furniture – such as as the Corporate Culture seating in the waiting area – and create a Wild Life space in their own abodes.

However, the real point of difference is that the entire salon is moveable. No cutting station or salon chair is in a fixed position - everything can be shifted along a concealed track to stack for a night of education, or to set it up auditorium-style in front of the 100 inch screen, giving added depth to the word ‘functionality’.

The architect's clever use of design means that even at it’s fullest, Wild Life is never a chaotic space and the 14 stations and eight colour application chairs mean there’s always enough room to go around.

In addition to offering products from their partners Goldwell, ghd and Davines, the salon also has a makeup installation from Becca, a selection of sweet treats from Luken & May and Coco Chocolates in addition to a fine brew of coffee thanks to a custom blend from Single Origin.

The Wild Life team recently won ‘Salon Team of The Year’ at the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards and it’s obvious that the team’s synergy has resulted in the salon’s aesthetic achievement – it’s a top class salon entirely deserving of its top class team.

Ali Holmes’ New Creative Force win at the Hair Expo awards was yet another achievement contributing to Wild Life’s stellar year.

Furthermore, Wild Life have now taken the opportunity to pass on their knowledge, offering education nights in-salon that welcome all hairdressers.
