Geoffrey Herberg of Chemistry for Hair, Fortitude Valley, has been involved in MBFF since its launch five years ago. “I really enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge with other hairdressers from all around the country in my role as Hair Director, and also learning from my fellow team members,” said Herberg. “Teamwork is at the heart of production on this scale and is essential to the success of each and every show.”
Craig Smith of Fruition Hair, Brisbane, also returned to MBFF for 2010. “MBFF is the most significant fashion event for Spring / Summer collections, supporting both local and global designers, and so it’s really important that we are there representing Schwarzkopf Professional at this key platform for trend prediction, both behind the scenes and when the creativity comes alive on the catwalk,” he said.

OSiS Ambassador, Simon Crawford and his team from Crawford’s Hairdressing, Brisbane, joined MBFF for the third year, with Crawford assuming the role of Hair Director for the first time. “MBFF challenges me and pushes me to new creative highs”, he said. “I love the adrenalin rush of meeting the crucial deadline of an elite fashion show, and particularly working alongside such super creative types!”
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane, now in its fifth year, remains the leading event for both established and up-and-coming local and international designers to present their Spring / Summer collections to an ever growing audience of media, fashion industry representatives and consumers.
This year saw 10 group shows, showcasing 38 local designers, 24 national designers, and 24 international designers including Easton Pearson, Lisa Ho, Scanlan & Theodore and Pistols at Dawn.

International make-up artist, Napoleon Perdis, joined the Schwarzkopf Professional team, creating key make-up looks for over 200 models that walked the runway.
For the first time, Schwarzkopf Professional presented a combination of hair, beauty and fashion in the highly anticipated Schwarzkopf Professional Hair and Fashion Show.
Designs were showcased from Gail Sorronda, Bettina Liano, Subfusco, Maxi & Bruce, and designers from The Young Designers Online boutique.
The opening theme, Uniform, presented a collection of European designs referencing one of the strongest trends of the coming season, military, with selections from Maxi and Bruce including labels R867, Freddy The Club, DDP and European Culture, alongside additional selections from Subfusco.

Inspired by classic sci-fi films, Cyber-sport captured another inspiring theme which brilliantly showcased looks from the Subfusco label.
Subfusco’s Josh Scacheri believes that the elements of hair, beauty and fashion are inextricably linked, “If your hair and beauty do not connect to the clothes on your back, then you simply haven’t got it together”, he said. “This is so important for designers when trying to communicate their style to consumers and of course, so essential to expressing yourself as an individual”, he added.
Emerging young Brisbane labels Neon Heartache, Mary Mary, Shardie, and Soot, presented their designs for the third catwalk trend, Punk Goddess, which rode the zeitgeist in referencing the re-emergence of the punk and grunge trend which is once again filtering through for next season.
Brisbane Designer, Gail Sorronda, presented the Romantic Boudoir theme beautifully, spinning what could easily be interpreted as overtly classic into a story that was utterly modern. The show closed with New Rebel, a theme which showcased cool new denim pieces by Bettina Liano.
