RSFF: RAFW Review Show 6
[Tue 07/09/2010 10:56:53]
Designers including Alice Mccall, Bec & Bridge, Dhini, Flannel, Karla Spetic, Lucette Magdalena Velevska, Miss Unkon, Phos Phoro, Ruby Smallbone and Sara Phillips graced the catwalk for the sixth RAFW review show on August 26, during RSFF 2010.

Redken 5th Avenue NYC Hair Director Alex Grahl took the reigns backstage, creating two looks for the show that were inspired by the 1960’s with a strong rockabilly influence.

The styles were ‘still feminine with a rockabilly shape, keeping the top heavy and full with a texture-plait or quiff and the sides firmly slicked back,” said Alex, of her hair creations which were fun and feminine with a retro edge; a great way to update your up-style for the season.

Get the look:
Look 1:
1. To create the hair down style, prep the hair with Redken Satinwear 02 and Redken Wax Blast 10 on damp hair for hold, texture and a natural shine. Blow dry in.
2. Section the hair from temple to temple. Take the front side sections, spray with Redken Wax Blast 10 and tie with a dental band at the back. Spray with Redken Forceful 23 to firmly hold and slick back the sides.
3. With the back lengths, use straighteners to create an S-shape bend through the lengths.
4. Next spray Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 through the top front section. Brush with a soft brush for dramatic texture. Follow by backcombing at the roots for maximum height, folding hair back to the crown. Set with a heavy dose of Redken Forceful 23. Cut out the dental band at the last minute.

Look 2:
1. Prep the hair with Redken Satinwear 02 and Redken Wax Blast 10 on damp hair. Blow dry in. Create a horseshoe section from one temple to above the crown, to the other temple. Tie the back and side sections in a high, tight ponytail at the crown. Spray the length of the ponytail with Redken Wax Blast 10.
2. Next, spray Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 in the front section. Brush and shake with fingers to create volume.
3. Pull the ponytail over the head and plait the ponytail and front section into one straight plait towards the face. Secure with a hair tie. Rough-up the plait with your fingers to create a ruffled texture, then fold and twist the plait back molding it into an s-shape and a slight quiff. Secure with pins.
4. Finish with a light spray of Redken Forceful 23 for hold.
