Step Into Style winners announced

In June 2010, Style Recruitment, in association with Taylor Weir School of Hairdressing, launched a competition open to all Taylor Weir students in which entrants were asked to predict wearable, edgy trends for 2011 and innovative and fashion looks in cut and colour and the winners have just been revealed.

The winning entry by Tonika McDermott

First place was awarded to Tonika McDermott, a 1st Year Apprentice who attends Taylor Weir School of Hairdressing and works at Precision Hair Studio located in Bullsbrook W.A. She was responsible for the colour, cut, styling, makeup and photography of her image.

Second place was awarded to Gabrielle Crilly, an apprentice at Scene Salon located in Fremantle W.A, while third p[lace was a tie between first and second place winners, Tonika and Gabrielle!

An esteemed panel of industry leaders judged the competition – and will be looking at the overall image and quality of hairdressing as well as wardrobe, makeup and styling.

The judging panel included owner of Darren Greyson Salon in Victoria - Darren Greyson, Owner of Tyler Reid Hair Salon Simone Lee, Penny Quill Hair Parlour owner Ryan Williams, Matrix Artistic Team WA member Zoe Harris from Be Ba Beau Hair & Beauty, Fashion Designer Tane Andrews and Technical Consultant for Loreal Professional WA Karen Richardson.

As the winner of the competition, Tonika will have her winning image and name published in INSTYLE magazine, as well as a one year INSTYLE subscription. There’s also a total cash prize pool of $500 and Matrix product packs for first, second and third place. Congratulations to Tonika and Gabrielle!
