[Tue 21/09/2010 10:23:20]
Hairdressing salons across Australia will be seeing pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wild Life Hair salon in Sydney's Milson point will provide the perfect venue to kick off the pinkme! campaign - a nationwide fundraising initiative for the McGrath Foundation.

Several McGrath Breast Care Nurses and staff members from the McGrath Foundation will be getting the makeover of a lifetime at the event on October 1, courtesy of the award-winning team at Wild Life and Essential Therapy, with the launch of the national pinkme! campaign, the biggest collaboration the hairdressing sector has ever seen.
More than 100 salons across Australia have already signed up to be part of pinkme!, with salons decked out in pink and using pink eco-towels manufactured especially for the campaign by Easydry.

Hairdressing giants including L’Oréal Professionnel, Shortcuts Salon and Spa Software and marketing company Boutique Marketing have all got behind the campaign as well as INSTYLE magazine and styleicons.com.au to help raise money for the McGrath Foundation, with Easydry donating $25 for every box of pink eco- towels purchased by a salon.

pinkme! organisers are hoping to raise $50,000 for the McGrath Foundation to help fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia as well as educating young women to be breast aware.

“Just $1 to $2 per client from the salons or through raising client awareness and we will raise $50,000 to $100,000 for the McGrath Foundation and help them supply more care nurses,” said Gary Latham, co-owner of Wild Life Hair.

“Like many hairdressers I have had clients and friends who have had to face Breast Cancer. The difference that the McGrath nurses make to their day to day lives is unbelievable. They are carers, confidantes and friends giving invaluable emotional support to them and their family in the most challenging time of their lives," added two-time Australian Hairdresser of the Year Jayne Wild, Director of Wild Life Hair.
