Pivot Point Fundraiser

Pivot Point Academy held a fundraiser on July 3, 2010, for the Peter Mac Cancer Foundation, that saw Certificate IV hairdressing students create and produce a runway show, while raising over $3000 for the charity.

Watermark bar in Melbourne was transformed into a burlesque boudoir parlour to host the show, Le Chat Noir.
The charity event evoked old school glamour, complete with elaborate costumes and immaculate hair and makeup.
Guests were treated to a flirtatious performance by artists from the House of Burlesque in Fitzroy while took the catwalk wearing playful and coquettish hair styles created by Pivot Point Academy’s Certificate IV students.
The inspiration for the Le Chat Noir charity event came from a Pivot Point Certificate IV hairdressing student, Amanda Tendean, whose mother had been diagnosed with cancer.

Amanda’s classmates rallied to support Amanda and her family through their difficult time. On the evening of the event, friends, family and the Pivot Point student body filled the audience to honour Mrs. Tendean.
All proceeds were donated to Peter Mac Cancer Centre, and Le Chat Noir was successful in raising more than $3000.
The evening took a touching turn when a message from Mrs Tendean was read to the audience, where she compared her battle with cancer to “trying to fight the beast.” She said that having everyone there to support her made her feel like “they were fighting alongside her.”
Mrs. Tendean has since sadly passed away, and the Pivot Point student body feels extremely thankful to have had the opportunity to show their support for her family.
