Project 10 on the Mainstage
[Wed 22/12/2010 01:46:32]
Dennis and Graham Langford set out to create an arresting experience for guests at the 2011 TONI&GUY Mainstage event – the coveted stage for the industry giant’s 2011 collection.

VIP’s were first treated to a cruise around Sydney harbour before arriving at Sydney’s Doltone House for what was arguably the show of the year.

Merging 15 of Australia’s most powerful dancers and songstress, Katy Wren (MGM Records) with the finalists of Australia’s Next Top Model 2010 (donning the likes of Alex Perry, Hugo Boss, Masterslave and Tony Bianco to encompass the fashion gene synonymous with all things TONI&GUY), the calibre of talent stringing this show together was nothing short of phenomenal – and that’s only the front-stage crew.

So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Simon Lee workshopped the moves that fused with the talent of TONI&GUY’s Australian Creative Team including Sam Overton to communicate Project 10 via a story set many moons ago.

Set in the 1930s, the storyline unfurled in a communist nation whose ruler enforced a law refraining citizens from any form of self-expression, and as a result, the entire community were forced to wear their hair in a black bob – or at least those eager to avoid the consequence of personalised creativity.

A rebellious group marked by the bold, street-inspired grunge finishes, short undercuts, wide bangs, pinks, purples, ambers and blondes illustrative of Project 10 grew in numbers to form an unbeatable resistance against their malice leader. In a classic TONI&GUY ending, colourful creativity claimed victory in a stern salute to individualised style.

TONI&GUY Australia’s Managing Director, Dennis Langford says the 2011 collection combines classic high fashion influences with a sassy street feel to create a rebellious sense of glamorous grunge.

“The new looks are ideal for Australian’s – they are natural, youthful and edgy – the things we all stand for and love,” says Dennis.
“There is no question 2011 is the most exciting yet with our hairdressers around the nation already embracing the new collection, often adding their own interpretation or twists to the suit the individual client’s look and lifestyle,” he continues.

Host to luminaries in media, fashion and hair including Shane Henning, the evening concluded with an A-grade after-party that paired Cointreau cocktails, Viking beer and Russian Standard Vodka Demi shot girls with the rocking sounds of ARIA nominated, Amy Meredith. Only TONI&GUY.
