There's less than a week until applications close to be a part of the exciting GenNext project - a joint initiative between Hair Expo and 2010 Educator of the Year, Sharon Blain. five winning stylists will get the chance to produce their own collaborative show at the GenerationNext Gala on June 12, under Sharon’s direction.
Generation Next 2010
The project will provide the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest mentors in the industry, as well as accommodation costs for the workshop in Sydney and a contribution to the show’s production costs – often a stumbling block for young hairdressers. Each member will also receive three free tickets for their family and friends to attend the sold-out gala show.
To make the application process as simple as possible, budding entrants need only submit a short video explaining why they would like to be selected, showing samples of their work – as easy as a one-minute iPhone movie talking through a finished hairstyle, sharing their motivation for entering. The judges will be looking for creativity and technical ability and once Sharon and the Hair Expo team select the finalists, their videos will be celebrated on the Hair Expo Facebook page.
Finalists will be put up in Sydney to take part in a two-day workshop with Sharon Blain and her The Art of Hair team. Here they will create the show concept and start planning its production. The workshop also coincides with the annual awards cocktail party – announcing finalists in all categories of the 2011 Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards – where the team will rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in the hairdressing business.
The GenNext Project team will display their collaborative show as one of ten platform shows in the GenerationNext gala at Hair Expo on Sunday June 12. They will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to feature their creations alongside some of the industry’s hottest young stars, as well as the UK’s international hairdressing icon, Anthony Mascolo, who is the main act of the night.
