Newcastle hairdresser crowned Miss Sydney

Tegan Martin, an 18-year-old hair stylist from the Newcastle suburb of Jewells, was announced as the first Miss Sydney Australia during the finale ceremony at Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club on Wednesday 30th March.

One of 14 young women competing for the title, the elements of the Miss Sydney Australia competition included a business interview, swimwear, fitness, style and elegance.

In its first year, The Miss Sydney Australia competition was created by Felice Colarusso of technica haircare.

“The aim of Miss Sydney Australia is to give young women aged between 16 and 25 a chance to become acquainted with pageants before they consider competing at the national level,” said Felice.

Judges included the World Hair and Beauty Champion of 2004, Mario Murace and Sydney singer, Simone Waddle.
