CLEO 2011 Bachelor of the Year announced
[Thu 28/04/2011 04:18:56]
Preluding one of the years most talked about nights on the calendar, this years’ CLEO Bachelor list contained a selection of spunks from the kitchen, chiropractic chair, jobsite and swimming pool – a gathering of gents who, according to editor of CLEO Gemma Crisp, embody what modern women are after in a potential partner: less fame and more family-friendly fun.

“I think they (Australian women) just want someone who’s going to be a great boyfriend, who they can take home to their parents, and not worry about their parents freaking out. I think they just want to be treated well,” Gemma said – and Eamon it seems carries these qualities as well as a clear competitive lead in the swimming pool.
The handsome Olympian beat 50 worthy finalists and received a brand new Nissan Micra worth $15,999 which he was presented with on the night by event host and Bachelorette Sophie Monk and CLEO Editor Gemma Crisp.

CLEO Bachelor of the Year Eamon Sullivan
Perth-born Eamon has been happily single since his split from former girlfriend and fellow Olympian Stephanie Rice in 2008 – opting for a low-key love life taking care of his pet bulldog Baxter and training for a place in the 2012 Olympics.
CLEO was simply blown away by the massive number of votes this year (over 1 million) and believes Eamon’s fan-following well and truly translated in the final scores.
“Eamon is the perfect CLEO Bachelor – he’s charismatic, ambitious, intelligent, he’s amazing in the Kitchen (as we all saw on Celebrity Masterchef) and what girl doesn’t melt at the sight of a hot guy with a cute dog,” CLEO Editor Gemma Crisp said.

The 2011 Bachelors
Voted first runner up was Home & Away’s Dan Ewing, who plays the surf gang member Heath Braxton – Dan will be enjoying the delights of Fiji thanks to his $5,600 prize of four nights at the Westin Fiji and flights courtesy of Air Pacific. Last but not least Triple J DJ Paul Verhoeven came third in this year’s competition winning a $1,000 wardrobe from the denim label loved by all Bachelor’s – Levi’s.
At the sit down Black Tie event Sydney’s A-list and media crowd of 300 never looked so good, alongside the 50 Bachelors who ditched their casual ensembles and channelled their James Bond suits.
Embracing a cool street vibe juxtaposed with a Hollywood Hills effortless chic, guests were also greeted on George Street by Sydney Artist Andy Steele daubing contemporary art onto a brand new Nissan Micra which will be auctioned in aid of the Breast Cancer Network of Australia. Inside the IVY Grand Ballroom the sounds of Ministry of Sound DJ Anna Lunoe provided welcome tunes on decks as Sydney’s hot crowd revelled in the CLEO Bachelor atmosphere.

First place prize Nissan Micra
Following a first-class meal Australian singer songwriter Miss Prinnie took to the stage with her sexy dance troupe to perform her brand new single ‘Lion’ – ending with a tribute to Rihanna’s ‘Rude Boy’ as the troupe of Bachelors took to the stage.
After the big announcement, the crowd was given an even further boost, of the sugar kind, with the biggest cake imaginable featuring dazzling gold CLEO letters from the masters of baking, Planet Cake. All guests staggered home with a jam-packed goody bag as well as an Easter themed selection of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
This was one night that despite all the sweet treats, eye candy and the bursting at the seams IVY ballroom still had room for more and guests kicked on into the early hours at the after party in the IVY Den.

Fudge grooms the Bachelors
The CLEO Bachelor of the Year was sponsored by Nissan Micra, Omni, Thomas Sabo, Mattel and Fudge Hair Products and continues to be ‘the’ annual drawcard for one of Australia’s most successful women’s magazines.
