RAFW: L'Oreal Professionnel for Gail Sorronda
[Tue 03/05/2011 05:19:22]
Space-age grunge sirens took a leaf out of Princess Leia’s book thanks to Gail Sorronda’s Spring Summer 2011 collection of monochrome lightness and femininity.

Billowing sleeves, finely pleated skirts, floating headpieces and deconstructed tailoring in black and white produced an eerie yet delicate collection that appeared to be styled from another galaxy.

Brad Ngata for L’Oréal Professionel
Brad Ngata’s creative direction for Gail Sorronda’s SS11/12 collection came from pared back 90s minimalism, combining two textures to give a kooky dual-phase look to the models featuring textured side buns, a teased crown and sleek hair at the nape of the neck.

Front-on the look appears dry, chalky and austere, which then changes to a sleek, glossy minimalism when models turn at the runway; also making striking use of pins and ribbons to hold hair in place.

Achieve the Look:
1. Prepare the hair using Brad’s double-moussing technique; applying mousse, blasting the hair completely dry and repeating – this gives the hair extra volume and lift.
2. Using this technique, layer L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Full Volume Extra Mousse through the roots to mid lengths, leaving the ends free of any product.
3. Run straightening irons over the mid lengths to ends to smooth the bottom section.
4. Part in the middle, pulling hair over the ears and securing with oversized bobby pins at the temples and just behind the ears.
5. Backcomb through the back to create more lift and a dry, airy texture.
6. Use elastic to tie the hair back and around the neck to separate both textures.
7. Apply a little L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Crystal Gloss through hair that is left out to create a smooth and glossy look.
