RAFW: Cloud Nine for Therese Rawsthorne

Jon Pulitano looked to TV series Twin Peaks for design direction at the Therese Rawsthorne offsite show – a source of inspiration influencing a look of sexy masculinity.

Held at The Clothing Store at Eveleigh, Sydney’s industrial icon; Carriage Works proved the perfect juxtapose for the sophisticated delicacy resonating throughout Therese Rawsthorne’s spring summer 2011/2012 collection.

Created with ideas of the characters, design and crazy plot twists defining Twin Peaks, Therese Rawsthorne will send an entourage of sheer fabrics, pastel pink, black meets vintage yellow, delicate mauve paisley print and stark white into store for trend setters to style the season ahead.

Jon Pulitano for Cloud Nine

Cloud Nine’s Jon Pulitano headed up hair direction, working to manifest a feminine slash masculine design that adopted a military yet intense lady-like vibe – completing the collection with divine aplomb.

“Hair direction allows you to transform your show into a world, to communicate a complete ideal that tells the story of your collection. Cloud Nine is a strong, modern, creative brand and the confidence I have when working with Jon allows me to create the most amazing hair,” commented Therese.

Cloud Nine Wand

Reflecting the essence of Twin Peaks’ leading lady, Josie Packard and her androgynous glamour, the Cloud Nine Wand was crucial in creating the beautiful soft wave shape through the front of the design, and proved imperative in the acquisition of the style’s femininity.

MAC make-up direction continued the theme with focus on a strong brow, heavy lash, strong peach lip and a wet, dewy complexion that struck as innocent and masculine all at once.

Get the Look:

1. Section hair from temple to temple, clipping top section away.

2. Split the bottom section down the middle to create two even parts. Taking one section at a time, tightly plait hair, tying the ends. Do the same to the remaining section.

3. Pull plaits tightly towards the centre, cross them over each other and pin together in the middle.

4. Twist plaits around each other to form a flat bun, securing them with pins. Remember, the key is to keep them as flat as possible to the head.

5. Unclip the front Section and create a deep side part. Starting at the fringe area and in small sections, wrap the roots to mid lengths around the Cloud Nine Wand, leaving the ends free. Continue creating the soft wavelike shape through the front section of hair.
