RAFW: Cloud Nine for Lisa Blue

Lisa Blue showed off galactic inspired swimwear with aboriginal prints accompanied by a Pocahontas inspired hair look from Cloud Nine’s Lauren McGowan.

Lisa Blue’s Spring Summer 2011/12 swimwear collection brought together dream-like galactic angels, bold Bollywood colour, studs, metallics and indigenous inspired prints.

Beautifully straight locks, by Cloud Nine’s Creative Educator Lauren McCowan and Matt Jones of Oscar Oscar, were topped with gold feather headpieces by the show’s creative director Mark Vassallo.

“The collection for Lisa Blue uses a lot of tribal references so following this direction and using the Cloud Nine irons, we created a modern day Pocahontas inspired style,” explains Lauren McCowan. “Hair was really beautiful and natural, super straight and glassy, using the irons to infuse moisture into the look, making it incredibly shiny yet full of life.”

Cloud Nine’s plates use a high grade ceramic embedded with Korean rock minerals to make heat transfer efficient and allow for a poker straight finish without steaming moisture out of the hair.

“We’ve taken advantage of the technology in Cloud Nine so the hair is really gorgeous and natural. It’s straight, but there’s still life in it. It’s super shiny and healthy and has movement on the catwalk,” said McCowan.

“Using a great base product is important,” said McCowan, “today we’ve used an Aveda moisture spray, brushed it through and just air-dried the hair.”

Get the look:

1. Create a clean, middle part.

2. Taking small sections and starting from the nape, iron hair smooth using the Cloud Nine Iron at 175 degrees.

TIP: The key to a super straight look is how you hold the section. Rather than clamping the iron tightly, hold the section as straight and tight as possible as you lightly close and glide the iron through the hair. The unique ingredients in the plates and temperature technology infuse natural moisture in to the hair, leaving it looking healthy, shiny and full of life.

3. Continue to smooth small sections with the Cloud Nine Iron until all hair is complete.
