RAFW: De Lorenzo for Toni Maticevski
[Fri 06/05/2011 04:58:08]
After an absence of five years, Toni Maticevski returns to RAFW to show off his articulate craftsmanship and embellishment with a hair style of contrasts from De Lorenzo.

Toni Maticevski’s Spring Summer 2011/12 collection revealed strong simple shapes of sand wash silks, pleated chiffon and supple silk wool blends referencing the work of provocative fashion photographer Helmut Newton.

Plastic sequin details, feathers and starfish style crushed diamantes added an element of glamour to intricate layering and soft tailored pieces with a bold pink contrasting with the generally neutral collection palette.

De Lorenzo stylist Michael Wolff offered up elements of a French roll to play with this contrast, juxtaposing sleek and soft lines providing an elegant and romantic look for Maticevski’s delicate seductive angels.
“We collaborated on this style idea after an initial concept from Toni”, explains Wolff. “But what’s great is that it is an achievable look at home.”

Relying on products from De Lorenzo’s recently launch Elements Collection, Wolff used Extinguish to achieve blow-dry perfection for each model and Sandstorm to boost volume at the roots.
A French roll inspired twist provided contrast to the light blow-dry, with Titanium gel being used to slick the hair in place and Granite hairspray to finish the look.

“We did a natural blow dry and then twisted top sections to get a distinct line,” says Wolff who made great use of a tail comb and copious amounts of bobby pins to match the articulate craftsmanship of Maticevski’s own work.
