Mieka Hairdressing Nobby Beach

Mieka Hairdressing unveiled its new salon at Nobby Beach last month, providing a unique all-encompassing lifestyle concept under the direction of Tracey Hughes.

Seeking a lifestyle change, British ex-pat and Mieka Hairdressing owner Tracey Hughes relocated to the Gold Coast last year with her husband Simon to seek out sun, sand and serenity.

With Mieka Collingwood continuing to run as an incredibly successful salon, a range of educational DVDs and an active role as Artistic Director for Redken 5th Avenue NYC Tracey has chased the tranquillity of a Queensland beach with her latest project.

“We are very excited to be opening a Mieka on the Gold Coast and to offer clients a fantastic salon experience with the highest quality of work. Plus, I just love living in Queensland and this gives me a reason to spend less time on a plane and more time here!” said Tracey, who is a regularly seen styling backstage miracles at Australian Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.

Mieka Collingwood’s Lucas Dowling will relocate to the Gold Coast, his home town, to manage the Nobby Beach Salon. Dowling, who grew up in Burleigh Heads, is a seasoned Fashion Week hairstylist having worked on Alex Perry, Lisa Ho, Kate Sylvester, Miss Couture, Camilla, Kookai and ksubi shows.

The Nobby Beach salon will also be introducing Café Mieka, which will be run by locally renowned chef Grant Moulden, Tracey’s brother-in-law. Patrons will be able to enjoy great coffee, wine or sample something from a tapas menu, while they get their hair done or simply pop in for a bite to eat.

Under the direction of Tracey Hughes, Mieka Hairdressing has amassed over 200 awards including Salon of the Year seven times, Hairdresser of the Year, Colourist of the Year and Educator of the Year guaranteeing strong direction and style along the Gold Coasts’ shining shores.
