La Biosthetique's Beauty Stylist Finalists

La Biosthetique’s International Beauty Stylist Awards competition, now in its second year, has announced 10 finalists across the categories of cut and colour.
This year’s competition, attracting a wealth of entries from Australia and New Zealand, was judged by an elite panel including Ruth Brown of Pivot Point Australia, five time winner of the Australian Hairdresser of the Year Award Shane Henning, editorial primo Brad Ngata, INSTYLE's Jo Cowan and leading Australian lifestyle journalist, Elisabeth King.
Speaking on the day, Shane Henning and Brad Ngata were in complete agreement about the value of this competition and it’s wealth of benefits to the entrants.
“I commend all those who entered and put in the effort”, said Henning. “It shows a level of commitment to the industry and their craft and it’s a great way of refining their skills and talent. Starting out entering competitions is the hard part and it’s really important to keep going. I entered competitions time and time again without winning but the challenge is what kept me coming back”.
Brad Ngata concurred, “Entering is a humbling experience. As a salon owner, I think this is an important step for staff as it develops their personal signature and refines their taste. It’s those who have their own voice who tend to stand out”.
Those who made the finals showed a personal voice and a level of professionalism that stood them apart from their peers in considering the whole image from the hair, the choice of model, the make up, the photography and the overall composition.
With two awards up for contention, one for cut and one for colour, the finalists are:
