As part of its 2011 education program, De Lorenzo launched a new styling competition with the focus on photography and styling coming together – the first time for the competition after previous years of taking the form of a live onstage competition.
De Lorenzo felt that this format would allow for more creativity to flow with stylists, giving them an opportunity to express their talent on a new and exciting platform and to eliminate the handicap of ‘stage fright’.

“We were overwhelmed by the fantastic response to this competition,” said Deborah French, National Training Manager. “We literally had hundreds of entries and choosing a winner was incredibly tough; it was a very close call.”
This winner of the Senior Stylist of the Year Award 2011 went to Sofia Azorakos from Sogo in Victoria and Junior Stylist of the Year 2011 went to Elise Fraser from Bounce in Queensland.

The winners of each category won the opportunity to show off their talents in photo shoots to the value of $20,000: the senior stylist winning the chance to direct the next season Novacolor Collection and the junior winner receiving the chance to assist on a major hair fashion spread with a top Sydney Session Stylist.
