What is your blog called? How did you come up with the name?
My blog is called Styling You. I wanted to incorporate the word style as I started my blog to market my personal styling business and I wanted it to be advice driven – about my readers – so the “you” fitted that. Lucky it was available.

When did you start blogging?
July 2008 after a 20-year career as a journalist.

What is your blog about?
My blog is an advice-driven fashion and beauty blog. It’s become a go-to online destination for busy women – particularly mums – who want to look the best they can but don’t have a lot of time to browse and edit what they need to know before buying.

Do you blog full-time or part time?
I blog full-time; it’s become an integral part of my whole business. I still do styling work and I also consult to beginner bloggers. I’m also engaged to speak at events, covering topics from blogging to fashion and my mumpreneur journey.

What is the best thing about blogging?
Being able to create something that someone is interested in reading and then receive that immediate feedback from your readers. I never had that as a mainstream journalist. I love my readers and my community and I also respect that they put great trust in what I blog about and recommend.

What have you been involved in recently?
I recently spoke at Nuffnang’s Blogopolis conference in Melbourne about Improving Your Blog Content and Advertising vs Editorial. I also spoke last month at the Beauty Directory Digital Media Event in Sydney.

Following my Sydney Writers’ Centre Best Australian Blog 2011 win in May, I was interviewed on Sky News’ Media Report program. That award and the Fragrance Foundation Jasmine Award for best blog post brought a lot of media coverage Australia wide.

Any last words?
Blogging is something I love getting up each day to do. I’m excited to be part of the blogging industry as it grows in Australia. Next year I’m off to BlogHer in New York – I can’t wait to see first hand how blogging has exploded in the US.
