Industry farewells John Taylor

It is with great sadness that Dateline Imports announce the passing of John Taylor, on the 26th November 2011, at the age of 99. Part of the hair and beauty industry for an incredible 83 years, his presence will be sorely missed.

Born on 3rd September, 1912 in London; John was forced to take a job as a barber when the Great Depression arrived some years later. From his humble barber beginnings, John then went on to own a high-end salon in Mayfair and immigrated to Sydney with his family in 1949.
John became one of Australia’s leading hairstylists; founding the Carita chain of salons, taking up Presidency of Intercoiffure and attending to the hair of many celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor, Ita Buttrose, Maggie Tabberer and Ros Packer.
In the 1980’s John joined his son David at hair and beauty product importing company Dateline Imports where he remained until he suffered a stroke on 26th August this year.
