In celebration of Australia Day, the Joey Scandizzo Salon team took part in a blood drive that involved both staff and clients at Southbank Blood Bank Centre.
“Donating blood is something many of us think about doing, but never find the time,” says Joey Scandizzo, Salon Director. “As a team we wanted to make the commitment to finding that time.”
Promoted in salon and through social media for six weeks, a total of 33 staff, family, friends and clients attended the Sunday blood donor session.
“When we began promoting the cause it became clear to us just how many people have had family members or loved ones who received life saving blood transfusions,” explains Salon Director John Scandizzo. “That really drove home for us that what we were doing was important.”
One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime with 27,000 donations in demand every week – a small donation in time really can save lives.
“It was a great bonding day for our team, staff and clients; the vibe at the donation centre was fantastic,” adds Salon Education Director Joseph Seeman. “We all felt really positive to be part of something that will help so many people.”
