Inspired by the different textures and colours in various types of metals, the Corrosion collection from Royals Hair deals with the scientific aspects of metal becoming rougher the more it is exposed to moisture and the colours revealed in the corrosion of painted metal.
“Rust occurs when iron or steel that contains iron is exposed to oxygen or moisture over long periods of time,” the team explained. “This is what we found most fascinating and we loved the colours and textures that appeared after this exposure occurred. We wanted to recreate some of these colours that inspired us and try and to also create unique textures in the hair.”
Long and short styles both direct the collection’s focus to texture with varying geometric shapes, sharp lines and natural movement created in dual wet and dry styling.
Warm, natural makeup, white and nude fashion styling and a muted beige concrete wall as the backdrop draw attention to the audacious hair, and its overarching theme of raw, unrefined beauty.
