The Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards entries close in just over three short weeks (April 7), but with high-profile judges, new entry processes that make entering easier than ever and so much at stake, we’re giving you that last reminder that there is still time to throw your hat in the ring!
First let’s discuss the 12-person international judging panel, which this year includes Mark Hayes and Edward Darley from Sassoon, TV star Tabatha Coffey, editorial expert Peter Gray, UK hairdressing legend Angelo Seminara, the Hairdressing Journal International’s Jayne Lewis-Orr, x-Presion’s Jorge Cancer, Andreas Stavrou from the UK fellowship and HairBrained brainchild Gerard Scarpaci – how could you not want your work in front of such an esteemed group?
Next, to what makes entering easier in 2017. This year you can submit editorial images that are also being used for other 2017 categories (except if you’re competing for the main titles of Australian and New Zealand Hairdressers of the Year). Additionally, apprentices now only need to submit four images instead of the usual six, making the process that much simpler. There are over a dozen creative categories (including state categories) and four business categories, providing plenty of opportunity to find the sections that work for you.
Lastly to the prizes, this year you stand to win PR sponsorships, Hair Expo stage-time in 2018 and social media spotlight to tens of thousands of users, as well as the usual prizes and glory.
“Take the plunge,” advises 2016 state winner Kristy Hodgson. “It’s not even about winning – it’s about producing a collection that represents you and that you are proud to share… once you start, it’s amazing to realise and reflect on just how much you actually do in a year; putting on paper your growth over the past 12 months and what you intend to do next really makes you stop and think.”
