On Thursday January 23rd, beauty media ventured to fashion hub Carriageworks in Eveleigh, Sydney to discover the M.A.C Cosmetics makeup forecast for spring/summer 2014, off the back of M.A.C’s involvement in over 200 shows at London, Milan, Paris and New York Fashion Weeks.
Renowned M.A.C Makeup Artists Amber D and Nicole Thompson set the tone for the presentation, detailing their involvement during fashion weeks before discussing the new trends for the season.

Health, freshness and femininity were key features throughout each of the trends which included Day-Glow, CC-Thru Colour, Light FX, and The New Eye-Deal.
Day-Glow is raw, rugged, healthy and feminine. Peach and cream blushes mixed with nuances of sculpting creams and soft highlights, rather than tan, are a feature.
“Whatever you do this season, the complexion has to be summery, gorgeous and glowing,” according to Makeup Artist Tom Pecheux. Pearl Cream Colour Base and Copper Beach Pro Sculpting Cream are a must in re-creating this look.

CC-Thru Colour features eggshell tints, lilacs and peaches, acting as a strategy that projects the features and brightens the face. Multi-tonal skin is the highlight.
“All the shades I’m using this season have a fleshy tone to them; it’s about playing with the tones that exist naturally on and in the skin,” emphasises Makeup Artist Lucia Pieroni. Think Promise Me Velvetease Lip Pencil and Parfait Amour Eye Shadow.

Light FX is a new approach to light-reflecting makeup, injecting an optimistic life force into whites and lights. Glassy and opalescent clarity emit a healthy glow in SS14. Pink Opal Pigment and Strobe Cream dominate this look.

The New Eye-Deal emphasises the notion that detail has shifted back to the more feminine aspect of the eye, dropping the idea of masculine angularity. 60s defined lashes and 90s ‘slept-in’ eyes make for a sexy 50s re-boot.
