Tuesday September 13, 2009 was a red-letter day for New South Wales’ Spoilt Rotten Hair & Beauty Studios after being named a finalist in the Young Entrepreneur category in the annual Stevie Awards for women in business.

The awards honour female executives, entrepreneurs and the companies they run – worldwide. Winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in New York on November 13 and the presentation will be broadcast live by the Business TalkRadio Network in the USA – more than a little exciting for Donna Sillett, owner of Spoilt Rotten Hair & Beauty Studio.

“Being named a finalist in the Stevie Awards for women in business is an amazing honour. I have won many local, state and national awards for my salon, but to be named finalist in the world’s business equivalent of the Oscars is just unbelievable,” said Sillett.

“It would be an amazing achievement to win a Stevie trophy, not just for my own benefit, but also to show the world that Australia produces such great business talent, and that women can do anything they set their minds to. I started my business at 23 years of age just five years ago, and now I am recognised amongst the world’s best female business owners. I am truly grateful for the recognition and I hope this inspires other women to follow their dreams.”

More than 1,100 entries were submitted this year for consideration in 54 categories including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur and Best Community Involvement Program.
