Dario first forayed into the hairdressing industry in the 80s, leading him to quickly rise up the ranks in one of the worlds leading hairdressing companies. His sophisticated vision saw him become one of the countries most in-demand session stylists, featuring in editorial the world over.

Branching out on his own in 1998, Dario continued to build his high-profile clientele and in 2006, opened his Darlinghurst, Sydney salon, Dario Salon. Expanding his educational expertise outside of the salon, Dario founded DCI Education (, passing his passion and skills on to the next generation of hairdressers.

“Each hairdresser has different education needs and therefore the teaching medium needs to be varied for each person,” said Dario.

2013 will see the launch of the new DCI Education Mentor Programs which cater for both apprentice and senior hairdressers and are designed to take aspiring hairdressers through a personalized journey of learning.

The Apprentice Mentor Program helps develop confidence and constancy in classic cutting, consultation and styling work, while the Senior Mentor Program includes advanced hands-on skills to inspire new ideas and creativity.

Our very own educational website, Styleicons Education, features an array of courses by Dario Cotroneo, with simple step-by-steps to help build and improve cutting skills. To view Dario’s online courses now, head to
