On Sunday 14 August, the Australasian College Broadway competed in WorldSkills Regionals after being given only two weeks to prepare.
Taking up the challenge, the college entered seven of its hairdressing students to compete against other schools at the Meadowbank TAFE with students battling it out for seven and a half hours to complete three hair styles including men’s, women’s and an upstyle.
Michael Walker, a student from the College came in third place, a first for a Sydney metropolitan private Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

“Our educators Julie Halkidis and Jodie McCabe who attended the competition in full support, commented on how proud they were of the techniques and capabilities each of the competing students showed and the professionalism in which they carried out their tasks under such pressure,” said Ms. Houssein-Mustafa, Director of Australian College Broadway.
