Whenever an ABSOLUT invitation lands on our desk here at INSTYLE, we get damn excited. It’s always the party you want to make time for that week – in part courtesy of revered PR agency CavCon, and largely due to the sheer vision, reputation and cool factor pulsating from ‘that’ ever changing bottle of vodka, writes Lauren King.

Instigator of ‘creative collaboration’ (think Warhol days), in yet another stroke of genius, ABSOLUT tips its hat to a loving crew of followers with The Blue Room project – inviting Facebook fans to pitch their own ideas and concepts to a select group of artists for the ultimate exposure. Should their ABSOLUT artist of choice see winning potential, they are asked to step up, collaborate and form part of The Blue Room series.

“We are thrilled with the four artists who are partnering with the brand, as ABSOLUT has a long standing history of joining forces with the talents of the best creative forces in their field and the world. Damien Hirst, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and last year’s successful Swedish House Mafia collaboration to name a few,” said Tom Dusseldorp, Group Brand Manager at Pernod Ricard Australia.

Held at Sydney’s danceteria, Good God, Blue Room allocated artists – Sampology, Dion Hortsman, Emma Mulholland and Jimmy McGilchrist – ‘collaborated’ with a wide scope of Sydney’s cool kids including King of street style photography, Byron Spencer, and our industry’s very own tastemaker, Creative Director of Cloud Nine, Lauren McCowan, to bring the house down in ABSOLUT fashion.

The clever mix of Blue Room ambassadors provides a little something for most artistic tastes – Audiovisual DJ, Sampology, with his skill in blending musical and visual experiences, artist Dion Hortsman for his unusually captivating use of material and light, flag of vibrant youth, fashion designer Emma Mulholland, and digital pioneer: Jimmy McGilchrist.
