Everyone’s eyes were steadily focused on the year’s biggest fashion event as each A-list gown kept rolling in from the futuristic-themed 2016 Met Gala today.
Givenchy latex and Vera Wang feathers aside, we were most interested in the biggest hair moments from the day. As celebrities were given free rein of fashion to shock on the red carpet, they were also allowed to be more daring with their hair looks – and we’re grateful for the many who fully took up this offer.
While Taylor Swift continued to show off her bleached bob and Beyoncé sported sleek hair so good it would put any Becky to shame, these 10 stars made their own hair headlines. Some looks will entice your clients, other will be too audacious for even your most adventurous client (Lupita’s hair height isn’t exactly practical), but they’re all bound to ignite your creativity and dominate the hair fashion news cycle.
1. Lupita Nyong’o
We told you it wasn’t for every day wear. Lupita’s innovative up style (emphasis on the up) is less a red carpet hair look than it is a feat of engineering. Top marks.
Ciara’s metallic grey look is the perfect mixture of old and new – the silver granny hair trend meets sci-fi.
3. Emma Stone
Regular on any other day, Emma’s brunette look is notable because it’s just that – brunette. The notorious red head went brown just last week.
4. Kerry Washington
An elegant black dress became Met Gala-ready with a touch of magenta hair.
5. Katy Perry
Always one to make a statement – Katy Perry‘s alternative fringe and impressive hair height could only be complemented by black lips and bleached eyebrows.
6. Willow and Jayden Smith
These teenage wonder twins (note: not actually twins) rocked matching dreadlocks. That’s how you do sibling style.
7. Rita Ora
You may have thought Rita Ora would avoid good hair at all costs since the Becky rumours emerged, but she went all out with a sleek chignon to complement her feathered outfit. The hair highlight? Those unconventional metallic embellishments.
8. Jessica Hart
Perhaps more subtle than the other entrants on this list but no less interesting, Australia’s own supermodel Jessica Hart proved that futuristic can be understated too.
She always changes her hair up come Red Carpet time, but Zendaya was almost entirely unrecognisable in this very cool Beatles-style bowl cut.
10. Kristen Stewart
Returning to blonde just weeks ago, Kristen couldn’t have debuted her new hue in more emphatic fashion than at the Met Gala.
Which looks do you love?
