One of the most stylish events on the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week calendar that is the Park Hyatt’s High Fashion High Tea, which has once again put up a mesmerising show for fashion lovers and industry professionals, writes Adeline Kintono.

Complementing the designs works of Karl Kapp and Aurelio Costarella for spring/summer ’14 were the hairstyles created by the BIBA’s team, with Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year Frank Apostopoulos at the helm.

Described as minimalist and clean with a contrast, the hairstyles were fusions of polished-classic and dishevelled-modern.

“We created a slicked, slightly wet French roll and through the top, it was chaotic, unstructured and messy,” said Frank. “Between the two, it’s a modern classic – edgy with a twist.”

Fashion Author and High Tea host, Emily Power believed the styles suited both of the designers’ creations that are almost polar opposite.

“Kapp’s designs are sleek and simple and Costarella is typically embellished and flirtatious. Frank’s vision of a French roll with a loose textured quiff was sexy, elegant and unique, complementing both designers perfectly,” said Emily.

BIBA also provided a luxurious pampering experience for the 150 women who attended. They were treated to a fresh hairstyle while sipping champagne, and received an introduction to the BIBA Apothecary Concept haircare range.

“To have the Australian Hairdresser of the Year in attendance was a treat. For the guests to meet Frank and experience his mastery first hand was a highlight of the day. Many female guests left so excited to have not only met Frank but learnt some valuable hair styling and beauty tips,” added Emily.
