The hotly anticipated winner of the Chambord Shine Awards was revealed as design trio AJE (a creative collaboration between Eddi, Aie and Bree) at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by Rodger Corser on Sunday November 1, 2009.
With a budget of $1000, six weeks to prepare and a celebrity model to showcase their designs, the finalists took to the catwalk, hoping to impress a fashion-savvy panel of judges including Peter Morrissey, Genevieve and Alexandra Smart of Ginger &Smart, Kate Harrowsmith of maire claire and Kate Mansour of Chambord.
All contenders created stunning gowns, each as varied and unique as the next – though it was AJE with their pink sequin creation that took the crown.
The design brief this year was based on Chambord cocktails so it was fitting that guests were given classic French Martinis, Cham Chams and different Fruit Cups to sip on arrival.
Leeroy Petersen from Twisted Liquid entertained the crowd, serving up the signature No. 5 and Dark Knight cocktails with flair – and flames.
The event was held at the luxurious Water Bar at Blue Hotel where lighting was moody, the velvet seating plush and the entrance emblazoned with the Chambord crown.
Guests including Peter Morrissey, Renee Brack, Ruby Rose and Deni Hines enjoyed delectable canapés: spatchcock quiche, shiitake mushroom and goats cheese arancini and spiced snapper fillets.
However, the winner in the culinary stakes was certainly the dessert – Chambord crème brulee and Chambord-infused macaroons, ending the evening on a suitably delicious note and matching Chambord for its enjoyment.
