La Biosthetique International Beauty Stylist Award

The home of French brand La Biosthetique was the ideal backdrop for the annual International Beauty Stylist Awards held at the Palais des Congres de Paris.

La Biosthetique’s head office, Paris

Over the weekend, thousands of hairdressers descended on the French capital for Mondial Coiffure Beaute – one of the world’s largest hair exhibitions where La Biosthetique boasts a significant presence.

More than 200 La Biosthetique stylists and salon partners gathered for ‘The Party’ – an aptly titled celebration of La Biosthetique’s professional image and the creativity of stylists sharing a common bond under the company’s ‘total beauty concept’.

La Biosthetique staff from Australia including Darryl Sacks, Robert and Rob Aubin, Ruth Browne from Pivot Point as well as Canberra La Biosthetique salon partners Gess and Peter Mazis from La Bimbi travelled to Paris to embrace the first-class hospitality of the La Biosthetique family with a tour of the company’s headquarters overlooking the Arc De Triumph while staying at the luxury boutique Keppler hotel.

Prior to the awards, many guests of La Biosthetique visited Mondial Coiffure Beaute to witness the renowned La Biosthetique stand which is regarded as one of the most sophisticated stands at the exhibition where the company showcases its range of hair, beauty and wellness products.

Earlier this year, La Biosthetique talents from across the globe were asked to submit a professional photograph that epitomised the latest fashion trends and nodded to French style – a trademark of the rapidly growing beauty company.

La Biosthetique Beauty Stylist Awards winner, Helen Tether

Helen Tether from the UK won the coveted Beauty Stylist Award with a Sassoon inspired black bob and received the desirable trophy designed by one of Germany’s leading designers.

Andre Aus der Wieschen from Germany picked up the People’s Choice award as judged by readers of German OK magazine.

During the event, guests witnessed a video from awards judge Trevor Sorbie, not only one of the world’s most recognised names in hairdressing, but also a dear friend of the La Biosthetique family.

Australian finalist, Corrine Watt from Watt Hair Watt Body in Sydney’s Gladesville represented Australia after travelling to Paris earlier in the year to take part in a professional photoshoot with the other 11 finalists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia/Serbia, England and Canada.

Dancers and models inspired by Lady Gaga and speeches from La Biosthetique directors Sigfried and Jean Marc Wieser kept guests entertained while free-flowing drinks throughout the night coupled with disco tunes resulted in one hell of a Parisien party.

La Biosthetique Team Artistic Director, Mark Riese inspires La Biosthetique stylists from all over the world by putting together two hair and make up collections per year, with the current Autumn/Winter collection, ‘Berlin Cut and Color’ to be released in Australia early 2011.

Working alongside Alexander Dinter, Jorge Zimmer, Andrea Bennett and Stephane Gallion ensures La Biosthetique is in a supreme position to motivate stylists from all corners of the globe.

La Biosthetique
relocated its company headquarters from Germany to Paris four years ago and has since garnered a new following of fashion savvy clients and salons who embrace the holistic philosophy of the brand.

“Paris gives the company a more open view on collections and there’s a lot more fashion inspiration in Paris. Women embody a Parisien chic with understated make up and hair colour which is very different to the more solid German market. Paris is the perfect home for our fashion direction,” said Riese.

“The biggest challenge for La Biosthetique is to find ways to connect people with the company’s trends and to come up with new ideas and techniques that are easy for them to adapt in the salon. More of our salons are embracing the total philosophy of the brand and not just hair, so our collections have to make a complete fashion statement,” said Riese.

The company conducts seminars every week in the Paris Academy and now boasts more than 700 salon stockists of the brand in France. Globally there are more than 8,000 La Biosthetique salons, with Paris leading the way to inspire more than 20,000 professionals who visit the company’s academies each year.

The annual Beauty Stylist Awards was a family gathering of epic proportions and a humbling family experience for the Australians who attended.

Stay tuned for a feature on the 2010 Paris gathering in the Jan/Feb 2011edition of INSTYLE magazine.

La Biosthetique International Beauty Stylist Award

The La Biosthetique International Beauty Stylist Award will open to Australian and New Zealand stylists for the first time in 2010.

La Biosthetique International Beauty Stylist winner 2009

La Biosthetique is recognised all over the world for its French heritage and high-end profile and is found in some of the world’s most beautiful salons. The brand’s image is now set to inspire all salons, with the opportunity to gain global recognition and experience.

In order to participate, stylists must be fully qualified and working for a La Biosthetique hair salon. Each participant will be required to create a look using La Biosthetique and Belevance products exclusively and then submit a photographic record of the look before the work was completed, the process and the final shot. Entries must be received no later than March 31, 2010.

The top prize for the Australian/New Zealand winner of this influential award consists of not just one, but two international trips – one to Berlin to attend a workshop and photo shoot and the other to Paris for the La Biosthetique international awards ceremony.

The judging panel will be chaired by Ruth Browne (Pivot Point Australia) and also includes La Biosthetique Paris’ International Creative Director, Stephane Gallien.

The judging panel will be looking for three key elements:

*The quality of the hairstyle
*The quality of the make up
*The overall total look and style of the photograph

The winner will be flown to Berlin in July to attend a workshop with three times London Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks and partake in a professional photo shoot. The best entries will be published in trade (INSTYLE magazine) and consumer press and there are two categories for the international judging – the Professional Award category and the Public Award category.

For the Professional Award, stylists should interpret La Biosthetique’s cutting, colour and styling philosophy in the most creative way. Work should demonstrate progressive styling, with a focus on trends and innovation. The Public Award is selected by the readers of (OK Magazine) Germany.

The culmination of all the hard work will be the international awards ceremony at the La Biosthetique headquarters in Paris in November.

“La Biosthetique is excited to be able to offer this amazing prize of two European trips to the Australian winners of this prestigious hair competition,” said La Biosthetique General Manager, Darryl Sacks.

“The quality of work that has been produced internationally for this award has been phenomenal and we’re truly excited that Australian and New Zealand La Biosthetique stylists will have the opportunity to participate in this esteemed award.”
