Redken’s 2009 Future Color competition has launched – promising to not only inspire the young creative colourist with a kaleidoscope of colour options, but also coach them towards becoming one of Australia’s top colourists.

Dedicated to exploring the creativity and interpretations of the nation’s finest young colourists, Redken Future color is set to inspire both past and new contestants.

Redken Future Color targets young, talented and creative artists from both Redken and non Redken salons.
Entrants must have started their career during or after 2003.

Entries can be submitted as a snapshot selection of photographs on disc – Professional photoshoots are not required. Future Color sets contestants apart based on their talent and skill as a colourist only.

2009 Theme: Techno Primitive
Techno: Is set to inspire with its high voltage climaxes and electrifying lasers. Techno energy amases in the same way and vibrant hues add ‘wow factor’ to coloured hair. The colour of techno is a kaleidoscope of electrifying and futuristic colours, adding energy and vibrancy to create advanced looks.

Primitive: Is interpretive of dance, tribal drum beats and primitive patterns painted on nude bodies. This theme encapsulates a sense of being at one with nature. Apparently, the power of nature can be better realised one one respects the world around them. By stripping away at the surface, primitive unearths a beauty that is raw and exposed as well as an atmosphere that is interpretive and removed from the conventions of mainstream society.
