Melbourne salon Rokk Ebony delved deep to deliver bushfire aid during a fundraising event held on Sunday, February 22nd.
Usually closed on a Sunday, the salon defied convention and went on to raise $10,000 for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
Both Rokk Ebony staff and clients have been affected by the devastating fires with one client in particular still reeling from her father’s loss.
“He’s from a town near Marysville and he lost everthing – the tractors, animals and of course the house. It’s so hard to start again when you’re in your 70’s,” said Rokk Ebony client Karen Melnjak.
“We are not usually open on a Sunday, but everyone pulled together and the salons filled up. Our hairdressers are buzzing as everyone feels good about using their skills to help such a worthy cause,” Rokk Ebony salon manager, Sarah Bellman, remarked.
