The world of hairdressing is mourning the loss of Toni&Guy founder Guy Mascolo who passed away from a heart attack at his Dallas home on May 6 at the age of 65.
Together with his brother Toni, Guy founded their eponymous line of salons in the UK before expanding into a global empire and internationally recognised brand.
The brothers learnt their hairdressing skills from their father who was a respected stylist and by the mid-70s the brothers had opened their first salon in central London which was followed by another two and a hairdressing academy in the English capital. The brothers passion for hair eventually culminated in the launch of their own product line: TIGI.
The early 80s saw Guy move to Dallas to oversee the brand’s expanding US operations whilst growing the professional product line.
Eight years ago, Toni&Guy split into two parts – one took care of US operations and the other the rest of the world. Guy, with two other of his brothers, took global ownership of TIGI and Toni&Guy USA and sat as chairman.
A generous family man, Guy will be remembered for his musical, culinary and artistic talents in addition to his huge contribution to hairdressing.
