After closing 2008 with record profits, TIGI has been bought by consumer goods giant Unilever.
The company will remain as a stand-alone business within Unilever with global headquarters remaining in Dallas, Texas.
Maintaining a distinct identity, the brand remains committed to the professional salon industry and the current management and creative teams remain intact.
“We have always been passionate about people, so to be able to advance the industry through our products and education by using Unilever’s impressive resources, while continuing to involve those who have made us successful – both customers and employees – is very gratifying.” says Bruno Mascolo, TIGI CEO.
With global sales up 7.5%, TIGI had worldwide sales of approximately $250 million in 2008. TIGI employs over 550 people with operations in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Australia.
The resources and reach provided by Unilever will allow the brand to focus on new hair technologies, brand awareness and their education academies.
