A vital announcement for all salon employees and employers has been explained by the Hair and Beauty Australia Industry Association (HABA) – so ensure you take note.
Each year the minimum wage for employees under the national workplace system is reviewed, and this year has been increased by 2.5 per cent. This will come into effect from the first pay period starting on or after July 1, and could be an essential factor in the finance of your salon or your employee rates.
As part of the Fair Work Act 2009, the Minimum Wage Panel, a division of the Fair Work Commission (FWC), reviewed the minimum wage order and the current modern award minimum wages for all employees covered under Fair Work.
The 2.5 per cent increase considers a number of factors including the current economical climate including the reduction in inflation and wages growth, CPI index, unemployment rate, the cost of living within Australia as well as submissions which were made to review each award on a case by case basis.
How will this change affect you or your salon?
