Drumroll please… the nominees in the British Hairdresser of the Year Award at the British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, have been named. The renowned global names showcase the wealth of talent across the pond, in an industry that constantly inspires with its editorial acumen.
“British hairdressing has certainly faced its greatest ever challenge this year. It has been a testing time for us all and I have been so impressed with, but not surprised by, the industry’s continued professionalism, resilience and creativity,” said Executive Director of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis Orr.
“The British Hairdresser of the Year title has been the most sought-after for more than three decades. This year especially, it is recognition of the stylists at the forefront of this thriving, talented and professional community. The award not only cements the careers of exceptional hairdressers but consistently raises standards across our industry year-on-year.”
Without further ado, these are the hairdressers nominated for their reputation, vision and ambassadorship to this important industry. Congratulate Adam Reed, Angelo Seminara, Cos Sakkas, Darren Ambrose, Errol Douglas, Eugene Souleiman, Gary Hooker & Michael Young (Hooker & Young), Richard Ashforth, Robert Eaton and Sally Brooks for their nominations.
This top ten received the closest voting cluster ever recorded in the award’s history, resulting in more nominees than ever before, as judged by hairdressers, influencers and press in the UK. Between them, the nominees boast inimitable awards, nominations, experience and innovation within the industry. The talented group carries on a proud tradition for the award, which has existed since 1985 and catapulted household names into the spotlight.
“Being the sole sponsor of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards for the past 36 years, is a huge honour for Schwarzkopf Professional,” said Julian Crane, general manager of Henkel Beauty Care UK and Ireland. “Today, when we reveal who is in this echelon of top hairdressers in the UK, it’s always a day to celebrate the best of British hairdressing. As an industry we have been hugely hit by Covid-19, but the resilience and the spirit of British hairdressing is seen as we pull together and recognise that we are united as an industry, it is a great reminder that we have so much amazing talent within our midst.”
The winner will be announced on Monday November 30 2020 at JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane, alongside the winners in six specialist categories and nine regional categories.
Good luck and well done to the finalists!
