The 2021 Australian Hair Industry Awards (Business) and Australian Modern Barber Awards, together with the Australian Beauty Industry Awards, have been shifted from live events to be presented as pre-recorded live stream events, with all tickets already purchased be fully refunded. The events will still be held on their original dates of November 28, December 6 and November 14, respectively.

Due to ongoing border closures around the country, the risk of any further lockdowns and questions and uncertainty around event rules and restrictions, planning has necessitated a change to a virtual event.

“There are just so many variable, that keep changing when it comes to events this year, as well as an instrumental factor in our decision, knowing how much NSW and VIC have been through already and not being able to offer a fully inclusive event to those that desperately want to attend,” said Mocha Group’s Linda Woodhead.

The new pre-recorded live stream formats will allow all finalists to be virtually present and host their own events in their own states. The AHIA and ABIA awards received 8000 combined views in 2020, so a similar format this year promises exposure for both finalists and sponsors.

“After the event, we will be sending all winners their trophies, social tiles and press releases, and ask that they all film their own acceptance speeches and send to us, so that we can post their thank-you messages as we always do for everyone to see and share online,” Linda said.

“While this news may not be ideal for all, we believe that it is the best we can do in the current climate and we can’t wait to announce our 2021 winners so that they can utilise these important accolades in ongoing marketing and then look ahead to an incredible 2022.”

In every format, we can’t wait to see which hairdressers, barbers and beauty experts are awarded for their talents.
