A tight Oscars race captivated the globe but we were focused squarely on the red carpet – particularly the hair looks. In the ever-elegant award ceremony’s trending looks, you could expect distinguished styles and some requisite glamour. While you’ll have to wait until May’s Met Gala for something more audacious looks, these refined looks could steer your clients in their evening wear options or even for something more every day.

Sleek Up Styles
Sleek hair reigned supreme at this year’s Academy Awards, as decided by publications such as Vogue, and pioneered by celebrities like Elle Fanning, Felicity Jones, Margaret Qualley and, of course, one of the evening’s most talked about nominees, Ariana Grande. Stars such as Best Actress winner Mikey Madison took it a little more tousled. Keep it in mind for your next bridal hair assignment.
Short Hair
Beyond the bridal, short hair is having a moment. Emma Stone showed us how it’s done, with 1920s to 1930s finger waves courtesy of Mara Roszak of Dyson. Anok Yai’s choppy cut, Doja Cat’s bleached tips and Lupita Nyong’o’s innate style continued the trend.
Face Framing Fringes
Longer hair walked the runway too and, everywhere from long lengths to bobs, layers were in, with the stars flipping their hair back and forth with short pieces at the front and face framing shapes ruling the day. A-listers like Miley Cyrus, Rachel Zegler and Julianne Hough were just some examples of the side fringe trend.
