6 Queens of the Bob

So many celebrities are going the way of the chop these days – and with them, clients follow. While there’s a never ending array of bob cuts splashed across the style pages after every celebrity event, some ladies have truly mastered the style, channelling Cleopatra with a mix of such edge and elegance that the Egyptian queen herself would be proud.

The bob has become more varied than ever, now made up of different layers, textures and angles that allow it be increasingly edgy or feminine as necessary.

In all it’s permutations, we’re fans. Here are six of our favourites.

1. Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction

Overwhelimngly dark and dangerous, Uma Thurman’s black bob in Pulp Fiction showed just how sexy a short cut can be. 20 years later and we’re still style crushing on this look.

2. Sienna Miller

While Sienna can probably do no wrong in the realm of style and beauty, her chop last year for a film role has added a whole new dimension to her look.

3. Alexa Chung

English model, actress and Vogue contributor Alexa Chung is a fashion muse for many reasons – her distinctive personal style is one, but her chestnut lob-turned-bob falls somewhere at the top of the list.

4. Freja Beha Erichsen

Danish model Freja is our constant inspo for pulling off the lob. The supermodel is parading her textured cut through editorial pages around the world.

5. Lara Bingle

Aussie style icon Lara Bingle somehow pulls off beach babe and sophisticated fashion icon with this cool crop.

6. Nicole Richie

Nicole has long been the pioneer of a shorter cut. Whether sporting a natural brunette or blonde, or even a more electric purple hue, the chop will still inevitably be at the centre of her stylistic legacy.

This list is the one to bring out when your clients need one final push into taking the plunge. If these style queens, and the wave of other celebrity trend-setters, are anything to go by, the bob is back in a big way and more interesting than ever before.

Thanks Cleopatra.
